چکیده

Next generation Internet architectures will consider the Differentiated Services paradigm for the provision of quality of service to individual customers needs and applications. This paper addresses the definition and deployment of specific network services in a DiffServ environment. The proposed network services and the underlying traffic engineering methods are analyzed and simulated. Simulation outcomes prove that the fundamental principles of the network services are fulfilled.

Network Services Deployment for QoS provisioning in a multi-layer DiffServ Architecture

The Internet evolution delineated during the last years has necessitated the need of quality of service differentiation among IP flows that expose different characteristics regarding bandwidth, delay, packet loss, and other QoS-relative parameters. This paper describes in brief the specification and implementation of a layered architecture, which achieves the aforementioned requirements through...

Internet network design for quality of service guarantee using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

By developing the new services such as VoIP and Videoconference, using a mechanism is needed to support the quality of service of the application programs. Different models have been presented to guarantee the quality of service. Among these, the differentiated services can be mentioned which was presented by IETF. In the architecture of the differentiated services, no admission control mechani...

Integrated Services and Differentiated Services: a Functional Comparison

The increasing demand of Quality of Service (QoS) has lead in the last years to the definition of architectures that modify the best-effort Internet, though in a backward compatible way. The Integrated Services (IS) architecture, tightly coupled with the RSVP protocol, is first one that has been developed by IETF. Soon after its deployment some experimentation of IS networks raised a serious pr...

A study of QoS performance for real time applications over a differentiated services network

The Differentiated Service Architecture (DiffServ) is currently a popular research topic as a lowcost method to provide Quality of Service to the different applications in the Internet. This paper addresses the definition and deployment of specific network services in a DiffServ environment. The proposed network services are described, while our main focus is the real-time delay-sensitive appli...

Convergence of UMTS and Internet Services for End-to-end Quality of Service Support

Internet evolution delineated through the last years has urged the wireless network community to adopt the support of the IP protocol. The deployment of IP multimedia services with guaranteed quality of service in both the access and core network is one of the primary requirements for 3G wireless networks. This paper focuses on issues regarding interoperability with external, “wired” QoS-enable...
